<span face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" style="font-size: small;">All good things must come to an end, and as <a href="http://www.wholeathlete.com/">Whole Athlete</a>
completes its ten-year sponsorship of the country's top mountain bike
development program, the team leaves behind a legacy of excellence and
success. Underscoring the program's decade-long mission, Whole Athlete
Team alumni reached the pinnacle of the sport this past weekend as Kate
Courtney won the Elite World Championship title while Christopher

Utah, the Whole Athlete p/b DNA Team came to Soldier Hollow ready to
face both high elevation and stiff competition. The fourth stop on
the ProXCT circuit was also a Junior UCI series event, with top points
at stake for Juniors looking to qualify for the World Championships in
August. </span><br />

<div align="left">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><a href="http://wholeathlete.com/team/team_athletes_kevin.html">Kevin Vermaerke</a> embraced the challenge once again and held off a strong Junior field to take the win for the second year in a row. Teammate <a href="http://wholeathlete.com/team/team_athletes_quinn.html">Quinn Simmons</a>
also rode a strong and tactical race as he sprinted for 2nd place on
the day, completing an impressive Whole Athlete 1-2. Vermaerke and
Simmons now head to Europe to tackle a series of road races, followed
by two major Junior UCI XC events in Germany and Belgium before
returning to the US for the XC National Championships in West Virginia. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: small;">
Racing in four countries on two continents over the past few weeks,
Whole Athlete p/b DNA riders have had an impressive start to the 2018
season with multiple international podiums.</span></div>
<div align="left">
<br /></div>
<div align="left">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: small;">At the first North American Junior UCI Series race in British Columbia, <a href="http://wholeathlete.com/team/team_athletes_kevin.html">Kevin Vermaerke</a> kicked off his 2018 World Championship quest with his first of three consecutive podium finishes. First-year U23 <a href="http://wholeathlete.com/team/team_athletes_savilia.html">Savilia Blunk</a> and <a href="http://wholeathlete.com/team/team_athletes_kelsey.html">Kelsey Urban</a>
also featured at the Canada Cup, both landing in the top-10 of a strong
Pro women's field. Vermaerke followed his solid Canadian ride with two
more podiums at the Fontana-Bonelli Junior UCI Series double these past
two weekends in highly competitive international fields, while <a href="http://wholeathlete.com/team/team_athletes_finn.html">Finn Gullickson</a> rounded out the top-10 at the Fontana XC, showing his building form as well. </span></div>

jumped in the deep end of the world-level road racing pool, taking on
Junior Gent Wevelgem and Paris Roubaix for the first time. Simmons
surprised and impressed many with a breakthrough podium finish at Gent
Wevelgen, followed by 3rd overall at the highly competitive Belgian
stage race Ster van Zuid Limburg, and then a hard-fought 7th place
finish at Paris Roubaix -even after being taken down in a crash and
suffering a flat tire in the final sections of pave'. Simmons then rode

Blunk wasted no time showing what a dedicated winter of training will
do in her first-ever professional race - the Cactus Cup. Facing current
and former Elite National Champions in the central Arizona desert,
Blunk took on the 3-day stage race with the confidence and poise of a
seasoned pro, finishing 3rd in the Short Track, 3rd in the Cross
Country, 4th in the Super-D, and earning 3rd place overall for the
weekend.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: small;">The
US National Championships have been a major focus for the Whole Athlete
Team over the past eight seasons, and this year was no exception.
Timing their peak to perfection, <a href="http://wholeathlete.com/team/team_athletes_kevin.html">Kevin Vermaerke</a> and <a href="http://wholeathlete.com/team/team_athletes_quinn.html">Quinn Simmons</a>
won the Junior 17/18 and 15/16 National XC Titles with impressive
rides on a technical, demanding course. The very next day <a href="http://wholeathlete.com/team/team_athletes_kelsey.html" target="_blank">Kelsey Urban</a>
followed the Juniors' success with a strong performance of her own,
earning the bronze medal in her first Women's U23 XC Nationals.</span></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: xx-small;"><span style="font-size: small;">The
stellar rides by Vermaerke and Simmons in the XC came just a day and a
half after they both featured on the Junior 15-18 Short Track podium as well,
with Simmons just missing out on the win in 2nd and Vermaerke coming
back from multiple crashes in the hazadous rock garden to finish 5th. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div align="left">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: small;">While
Simmons had a mishap-free ride to win the 15/16 Junior Title in rainy,
slick conditions, Vermaerke was faced with a last-lap puncture through
one of the many rock gardens, placing his bid for victory in doubt.
Although he had built a significant gap on second place at that point,
he was passed while getting help in the tech zone. Staying focused and
confident after a fast wheel change, Vermaerke charged across the gap to
the leading rider and attacked to take a hard-earned, well-deserved
win.</span></div>

advantage of the warm weather and two weekends of high-level competition

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: small;"> The Albstadt World Cup hosted one of the the biggest Junior UCI Series races this past weekend in Germany, and <a href="http://wholeathlete.com/team/team_athletes_christopher.html">Christopher Blevins</a>
stepped up to the challenge with an impressive victory for Team USA.
Just a week after narrowly missing the win at the French Cup in Ussel by
only 15 seconds, Blevins was determined to hit the top step of the

heels of his overall victory at the <a href="http://zmj.cz/" target="_blank">Course de la Paix Juniors</a> road stage race in the Czech Republic earlier this month. It's been quite a May of European racing for the young up-and-comer.</span></div>
